Rome Commons Ballroom
The South Campus Complex boasts a state of the art banquet facility designed to fill the demand for a space to host large receptions, banquets, and other social gatherings of all types. With a seating capacity of up to 700 guests, events that have traditionally had to move off campus will now find a home in the South Campus ballroom, officially named the Rome Commons Ballroom. The impressive d้cor of the facility is suitable for even the most formal of events, and rivals any hotel ballroom in Connecticut. On the same level as the ballroom there is a beautiful glass enclosed room that overlooks Mirror Lake called the Portico. This space is ideal for intimate receptions and dinners of up to 50 guests. The Rome Commons Ballroom is operated by Dining Services and can be reserved through University Catering.
What types of events can be scheduled?
The Ballroom has been designed primarily to be used for large receptions and banquets. There are movable "air walls" that can be set up in a number of configurations to size the room appropriately for your function. These walls are sound resistant to allow for multiple simultaneous events. Student awards dinners, conference banquets, retirement receptions, and weddings are all examples of events well suited for the facility. University Catering reserves the right to determine the appropriate use of the ballroom.
